The Uganda Cranes have intensified their preparations for the Total Energies CHAN 2025 Qualifiers with a double-header against Burundi on the horizon.
Training sessions are being held at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, where the entire 26-player squad is sharpening their skills under the guidance of the technical team.
Among the standout players is NEC FC’s goalkeeper, Hannington Sebwalunyo, who has earned a call-up following an impressive season in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Sebwalunyo has kept five clean sheets and conceded only nine goals, solidifying his place among Uganda’s top goalkeepers.
For Sebwalunyo, representing the national team is a dream come true.
“It is a great privilege and honor to represent the country. The summoning was based on merit, and everyone on the team is a performer who truly deserves to be here,” Sebwalunyo said. “The training is going well, and this is a new challenge with new tactics and techniques. We are improving with every session.”
He emphasized the importance of giving their all in the upcoming fixtures, particularly with CHAN being hosted in Uganda.
“Having CHAN hosted in Uganda is a great opportunity for us players and a privilege for the country. I would like to thank the government and FUFA for their efforts in ensuring this happens,” he added.
Sebwalunyo brings with him valuable experience, having played for clubs such as Ndejje University, BUL FC, and Maroons FC before joining NEC FC.
