Saidi Kirarira and Richard Mucunguzi are through to the final of Season 7 of the Singleton Match Play Challenge following the conclusion of the semi-finals on Saturday at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course.

The other team who made it to the final is Joseph Bogera and Kenneth Kiddu who beat Entebbe Club Captain Seruwano Walusimbi and his playing partner Peter Magona 4/3.

To make it to the final, Kirarira & Mucunguzi who are participating in the tournament for the first time ever beat Brian Manyindo and Michael Odur 3/2. The latter pair are playing as a team for the first time but have had stints in the competition with other players.

Despite being debutantes in the tournament, Kirarira & Mucunguzi have proved themselves to be worthy competitors, impressing even the most seasoned players with their precision and finesse.

On Saturday, Kirarira, a member of Kabale Golf Club and Mucunguzi, a member of Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa were down by three shots after the front nine but managed to bounce back and topped their rivals by beating them by three holes with two to go.

“It was a hard game so we had to fight in the back nine but I’m happy we managed to beat them. We composed ourselves and you can see in the scores that we had birdies and pars in the back nine,” Kirarira said adding that; “we have played difficult opponents throughout the tournament but the experience has been good.”

The final (between the winning pairs in the semis) promises to be an exciting match, with both pairs showcasing their skills and striving for victory. Fans and fellow competitors alike are eagerly awaiting the outcome of this match, wondering whether the debutantes can continue their winning streaks and prove themselves as future champions of the sport. The grand finale will happen on 2nd December with a 3rd/4th placement match also scheduled for the same day.

Joseph Bogera and Kenneth Kiddu (in the picture) will face-off with Saidi Kirarira and Richard Mucunguzi in the final.

“We will train regularly before the final to better out swing and also play with professionals, that way I believe we shall win the Singleton Match Play Challenge. We shall come for the final well prepared,” Kirarira added.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) through the Singleton Whisky brand is the tournament lead sponsor. The partners are; Uganda Airlines, DSTV, NCBA, CFAO Motors and Afrisafe.

The anchor sponsor has promised a thrilling finale on and off the course with the event just days away.
