Event: Singleton Match Play Challenge
Date: 9th July 2022
Venue: Entebbe Club

Season 6 of the Singleton Match Play Challenge will come to a close on Saturday, 9th July 2022 at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course during the event’s season finale, also sixth round of monthly golfing showpiece.

The winning pair in the main event are getting a fully paid expense trip to Dubai while the winning player in the professionals category (whose final will be held a day earlier) will take home the biggest chunk of the UGX15M kitty. Goodies are up for grabs for group podium finishers in the subsidiary category.

In the main event, all-male pair of Patrick Ndase/Philemon Akatuhurira will come up against a fellow male team of Joram Tumwine and Julius Borore. This year’s edition will have a new winning pair after past winners failed to reach final bend of proceedings.

In the semifinals held last month, Ndase/Akatuhurira knocked out senior golfing couple and crowd favorites Charles Kagombe/Edrae Kagombe alias ‘The Kagombes’ off a commanding 7/6 win.

Ndase/Akatuhurira is keen on winning the tournament and believes e that they’re the team to beat.

“Even for the Kagombes, they told us that they’re very tough but we beat them. Let me tell you we’re ready to beat anyone,” Akatuhurira said.

“Our goal is to win this tournament, we see ourselves in Dubai,” Akatuhurira noted adding that in the final, they’ll study their opponents’ capacity in order to match or better them in all aspects but above all, they’re going to prepare accordingly.

In the other matchup in last month’s semifinals, it took Joram Tumwine and Julius Borore a 3-hole playoff to beat Brian Cable/James O’Sullivan.

“We didn’t play well but what matters is that we made it,” Tumwine said adding that; “in the final we won’t be on pressure, we know our opponents played very well in their semifinal but we’re also ready for them. Me and my partner and good friends and we hope to win the Singleton Match Play Challenge.”

As usual, the subsidiary event will be happening on the same day. The previous one had lots of Kenyans in it and they even poured ink on various groups.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) through their Singleton Whiskey brand is the tournament lead sponsor. Its partners are; RwandAir, DSTV, NCBA, hTC and Riders Lounge Entebbe.
