Singleton Matchplay Challenge Reaches Business End
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The 2020 Singleton Matchplay Challenge has reached its climax with the final slated for this Saturday, 19th December 2020 at Entebbe Golf Club’s par-71 course.

Traditionally, the final would be held in July but the sports ban in March this year due to COVID-19 forced organizers to make necessary adjustments making the Fourth staging to happen in the final weekend before Christmas.

The final will be between the mixed pair of Diana Nambalirwa/Anthony Ndegwa and an all-male pair of Luwum Adoch/Innocent Nahabwe who are both chasing for a maiden victory.

In the first semi-final held recently, mixed pair of Diana Nambalirwa/Anthony Ndegwa beat a male team of Earnest Rukundo/Rogers Byaruhanga 8/7 while Luwum Adoch/Innocent Nahabwe beat fellow all-male pair of Oscar Ssemawere/Marvin Kagoro 2up.

Losing semi-finalists will also face off on Saturday in the 3rd/4th place playoffs.
The event’s platinum sponsor is Singleton whisky. Co-sponsors are; NCBA Bank Uganda, DSTV, Ekspresso, RwandAir, Serena Hotels, HTC, Bycentrics, Pinnacle Security, MARSH, Victoria Motors and Street Club (then host for the after party before Covid-19 happened).

The post-lockdown proceedings of the tournament are held in accordance with health guidelines regarding Covid-19.
