South African tactician Anthony Heugh Donald has joined the Rugby Cranes (Uganda men’s Rugby XVs team) technical team ahead of the upcoming Rugby World Cup African Qualifiers (Rugby Africa Cup) in France.
Anthony Heugh is the latest South African tactician to be deployed by Uganda Rugby Union (URU) after former Springboks 7s Captain Philippus Albertus Borman Snyman (simply known as Philip Snyman) was assigned to support the men’s 7s team’s technical bench (management) a few months ago ahead of the Africa Men’s Sevens scheduled for 23rd and 24th April 2022 at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
For Anthony Heugh, he’ll be required to sharpen the XVs side ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup, a global qualifier that will be held at Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence, France from 1 July to 10 July.
The participating teams at the France meet are; Namibia, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Algeria.
The tournament doubles as a qualifier for the Rugby World Cup 2023 that will be played in France. One team will qualify directly.
Recently, URU President Godwin Kayangwe said that foreign tacticians will be assigned roles at the various national teams in order to achieve results.
