Sheryl Botes, head coach of Uganda U17 women’s national team, Teen Cranes, exudes confidence in the final squad selected for the upcoming U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers against Zambia. The team departed for Lusaka this morning, anticipating a challenging yet decisive encounter.
Coach Botes lauds the team’s preparation, citing a spirited friendly match against the Misingi Soccer Academy U15 Boys team as invaluable. Held at Muteesa II Stadium-Wankulukuku, the match allowed the squad to fine-tune tactics and showcase skills ahead of the qualifiers.
“We’ve had a productive run in our preparations, and I’m impressed with the dedication and progress shown by the players,” Coach Botes stated in an exclusive post-match interview. “Today’s friendly provided a great platform to assess our strengths and areas for improvement. Facing a skilled U15 boys’ team tested our mettle and helped refine our game plan.”
The U17 Women’s National Team, dubbed the Teen Cranes, has diligently trained under Coach Botes’ tutelage for the past nine days at Cranes Paradise Hotel Kisaasi. The upcoming fixtures against Zambia offer Uganda’s young football talent an opportunity to shine on the global stage and advance in the U17 Women’s World Cup.
