In a weekend filled with drama, only one of the original eight pioneers of the FUFA TV Cup, Busoga College Mwiri, emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Iganga High School. The rest of the pioneers faced unexpected defeats, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the competition and the rising talent in Ugandan football. Mengo Senior School, Jinja College, and Kiira College Butiki were all defeated by newcomers Ndejje Senior Secondary School, Bukooli College, and Bukoyo Senior Secondary School, respectively.
Namilyango College, King’s College Budo, and Makerere College School fought hard to draw with Mehta SS, Gombe SSS, and Lubiri SS, respectively, in tightly contested matches that have fans eagerly anticipating the second leg.
The first leg saw a total of 63 goals scored, with several players making notable contributions with hat-tricks and braces. Jinja SS forward Hakim Folly emerged as the current top scorer of the tournament, netting four goals in a stunning 6-0 victory against St. Don Bosco Kamuli.
