Another exhilarating weekend awaits as the FUFA TV Cup Round of 64 moves into its second leg! The first leg delivered an array of unforgettable moments, with matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats, offering surprising results, dominant performances, and standout individual efforts.

Last weekend saw an electric atmosphere as students, alumni, teachers, administrators, and football enthusiasts came together to support their teams, turning the matches into unforgettable events. FUFA TV broadcasted three of these thrilling matches live, continuing its vital role in promoting local talent and providing a platform for young athletes to shine.

In a weekend filled with drama, only one of the original eight pioneers of the FUFA TV Cup, Busoga College Mwiri, emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Iganga High School. The rest of the pioneers faced unexpected defeats, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the competition and the rising talent in Ugandan football. Mengo Senior School, Jinja College, and Kiira College Butiki were all defeated by newcomers Ndejje Senior Secondary School, Bukooli College, and Bukoyo Senior Secondary School, respectively.

Namilyango College, King’s College Budo, and Makerere College School fought hard to draw with Mehta SS, Gombe SSS, and Lubiri SS, respectively, in tightly contested matches that have fans eagerly anticipating the second leg.

The first leg saw a total of 63 goals scored, with several players making notable contributions with hat-tricks and braces. Jinja SS forward Hakim Folly emerged as the current top scorer of the tournament, netting four goals in a stunning 6-0 victory against St. Don Bosco Kamuli. His performance showcased his skill and determination, marking him as a player to watch in the upcoming matches.

As we head into the second leg of the Round of 64, scheduled for the 5th, 6th, and 7th of July 2024, the stakes are higher than ever. Teams will battle to secure a spot in the Round of 32, with the aggregate winner advancing to the next stage. With so much on the line, fans can expect even more thrilling action and unforgettable moments.

With 63 goals scored in 26 matches and two hat-tricks in the first leg, get ready for more fireworks in the second leg! The journey to crown the next champion has just begun, and it’s already proving to be a spectacular showcase of football talent from Uganda’s traditional schools.
