Uganda Breweries Limited boosts Rotary cancer run

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has boosted the 2019 Rotary cancer run with Shs5m sponsorship.

The one-day charity run, launched by the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Rebecca Kadaga in July, is scheduled for this Sunday, August 25 starting and ending at Kololo ceremonial grounds with participants taking part in 21km, 10km and 5km respectively.

While unveiling the sponsorship on Monday, UBL Managing Director Alvin Mbugua urged the public and others corporate organisations to support this noble cause also bankrolled by Centenary bank and Parliament of Uganda.

Hope Tumwesigye, the president Rotary club of Kampala North expects over 20000 runners on Sunday. This year’s run hunts for Shs1bn which will go towards the construction of two cancer bunkers at Nsambya Hospital.

A modern cancer treatment machine called linear accelerator will be installed in these bankers for the treatment of cancer patients.

Tickets for the run are sold at Shs25000 at Centenary bank branches, Capital Shoppers outlets, Game store-Lugogo and Rotary offices on NIC building in Kampala.
