Uganda has surged five places in the latest FIFA rankings, rising to the 90th position with 1257.64 points.
This upward movement comes as a result of the Uganda Cranes’ recent performances in the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team’s spirited 2-2 draw against South Africa in Johannesburg and their commanding 2-0 victory over Congo Brazzaville in Kampala played a key role in boosting their position.
Uganda remains the highest-ranked team in the CECAFA region, solidifying their dominance in East African football.
Their consistent progress on the international stage is a testament to the Cranes’ determination as they aim for a strong showing in the upcoming AFCON tournament.
While Uganda continues to lead the CECAFA nations, Sudan (120th) and Rwanda (130th) trail behind.
Eritrea, on the other hand, remains unranked due to their lack of participation in FIFA-sanctioned events.
Globally, Argentina continues to hold the top spot, while Morocco, ranked 14th, is Africa’s highest-ranked team.
