Uganda Cranes CHAN Team To Start Training Today

Uganda Cranes CHAN team will today, Tuesday 22 December 2020 start training for the Mini Tournament scheduled to run from 1st – 7th January 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

After undergoing a preparation program with a classroom session on Sunday, the team that entered residential camp on the same day at the Cranes Paradise Hotel-Kisaasi will start on-field drills today at MUBS playground, Nakawa.

According to the Head coach Johnathan McKinstry, the players are much more confident and excited to get started.

‘All the players have reported to camp. We have been able to conduct an early introductory session where we outlined the objectives of the training camp and the tournament itself. We have generally set the goals and our expectations for players on and off the field‘ McKinstry told FUFA website.

‘We feel everybody is very confident and excited to get started since the majority of players will be featuring for the first stime at the Final tournament‘ added McKinstry

The Team will embark on two training sessions per day (starting 9 a.m and 4 p.m) from Tuesday 22nd -26th December before winding up with a practice match the following day. Travel to Cameroon is scheduled for Monday 28th December 2020.

KCCA FC players yet to be named are not part of this one week training session with Uganda Cranes as they have to feature for their team against Rwandese side AS Kigali FC in the CAF Confederation Cup. They will join the team between 7th and 8th January 2021 in Cameroon.

Pre-CHAN Tournament:

Uganda will tussle it out with hosts Cameroon, Zambia and Niger in the Mini Tournament. It is a competition set for preparing the four teams ahead of the Total CHAN 2020 Finals that kicks off on 14th January 2021.

Uganda in Group C will play against Rwanda, Togo and Morocco. Uganda’s opening match is against Rwanda.

Defenders: Eric Ssenjobe (Police FC), Aziz Kayondo (Vipers SC), Derrick Ndahiro (SC Villa), Paul Willa (Vipers SC), Ashraf Mandela (URA FC), Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers SC), Musitafa Mujjuzi (Kyetume SC), Patrick Mbowa (URA FC), Muhamood Hassan (Police FC)

Midfielders: Shafiq Kagimu (URA FC), Tonny Mawejje (Police FC), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers SC), Karim Watambala (Vipers SC), Saidi Kyeyune (URA FC), Hassan Ssenyonjo (Wakiso Giants FC)

Forwards: Ben Ocen (Police FC), Ibrahim Orit (Vipers SC), Vianne Ssekajjugo (Wakiso Giants FC), Joseph Ssemujju Jnr (BUL FC), Joackim Ojera (URA FC), Milton Karisa (Vipers SC), Stephen Mukwala (URA FC), Mohamed Shaban (Vipers SC), Ivan Bogere (Proline FC)
