Uganda Cranes: Local Based Players In Camp Urged On Covid-19

13 local based (domestic) Uganda Cranes team players and officials are currently in a residential camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisasi ahead of their trip to Dubai. The team will fly out this Sunday at 5pm aboard Emirates Airlines for a training camp.

The camp, which is the first since sports activities were banned in March this year is in line with the 2021 AFCON qualifiers as well as the 2020 CHAN Finals to be held in Cameroon next year.

According to the FUFA website, upon arrival at the hotel, the local based players immediately went in for a brief meeting enlightening on the COVID-19 pandemic. The missive was passed on by National Teams Manager Patrick Ntege who later called on Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe to take over the floor.

In regard to the same issue, Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry has urged players to be more vigilant and alert about the spread and control of the pandemic. Mckinstry also urged fans to support the team in everyway possible.

However, to leave no chances to Covid-19, all the players and officials underwent the COVID-19 testing at the team hotel. Players and team officials have been asked to self isolate for 48 hours until when they fly out this weekend.

While in Dubai, the selected 13 players will be joined by foreign based players for the 9-day camp.

The 13 players in camp at the Cranes Paradise hotel, Kisaasi:

Goalkeepers: Charles Lukwago (KCCA FC), Joel Mutakubwa (Kyetume FC), Nafian Alionzi (URA FC)

Outfield players: Milton Karisa (Vipers SC), David Owori (Sports Club Villa), Bright Anukani (KCCA FC), Saidi Kyeyune (URA FC), Paul Mbowa (URA FC), Samuel Kato (KCCA FC), Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers SC), Ibrahim Orit (Vipers SC), Shafiq Kagimu (URA FC), Karim Watambala (Vipers SC)

Officials: Johnathan Mckinstry (Head Coach), Abdallah Mubiru (First Assistant coach), Charles Livingstone Mbabazi (Second Assistant coach), Ibrahim Mugisha (Goalkeeping coach), Nakabago (Team Doctor), Ayub Balyejusa (Equipment Manager), Geoffrey Massa (Team manager), Paul Mukatabala (National Teams Officer), Ronald Lusulire (Media officer).
