Uganda Cranes’ Morocco Friendlies Against Tanzania, Madagascar Cancelled
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the cancellation of the Uganda Cranes’ two international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar that were scheduled to take place on June 5 and June 8, 2026, in Marrakech, Morocco.
According to a statement issued by FUFA on Wednesday, the cancellation was communicated through the match agents and was attributed to sanitary and public health considerations as directed by the relevant authorities.
The development comes after the Uganda Cranes delegation had already arrived in Morocco ahead of the two fixtures, which were part of preparations during the June FIFA international window.
Following the cancellation, members of the delegation will return to their respective destinations.
FUFA Executive Committee Member and Uganda Cranes Leader of Delegation Rogers Mulindwa expressed the federation’s disappointment over the turn of events.
“FUFA regrets to announce the cancellation of our two international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar, scheduled for June 5 and 8 in Marrakech, Morocco,” Mulindwa said.
“Our delegation had arrived in Morocco and will return to their respective destinations. We thank the Royal Moroccan Government and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for their hospitality.”
The two matches had been arranged to provide the Uganda Cranes with valuable competitive action as the team continues preparations for upcoming continental assignments, including the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers.
