Uganda 3-0 Tanzania

Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Uganda national U17 team (Cubs) convincingly played to a 3-0 win over hosts Tanzania in their second game of the ongoing AFCON 2019 U17 championship at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

Uganda’s goals were scored by Andrew Kawooya, Ivan Asaba and Najib Yiga. Kawooya opened the scoring in the 16th minute goal pouncing on Rogers Mugisha assist.

Mugisha assisted Asaba for the second after 28 minutes as the Fabien Kwesi’s side led 2-0 by half time. Yiga wrapped up the scoring with an exciting header 14 minutes from time. Kwesi made use of all the three substitutions; Abdul Wahid Iddi, Isma Mugulusi and John Alou were introduced for Rogers Mugisha, Andrew Kawooya and Ivan Asaba respectively. Uganda, who lost 1-0 to Angola in the opener are now second in group A with 3 points, 3 behind leaders Nigeria who beat Angola 1-0 for their second straight win after a 5-4 win over Tanzania in their opening fixture. The Cubs will now face Nigeria on Saturday –the same day and time Angola will be battling Tanzania.

Subs: Delton Oyo (G.K), Patrick Mubiru (G.K), James Jarieko, Edrine Mukisa Opaala, Isma Mugulusi, Innocent Opira, Polycarp Mwaka, John Alou, Abdulwahid Iddi and Ibrahim Juma (suspended).
