Uganda’s U-15 boys and girls teams have been handed challenging group stage fixtures for the third edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place from April 23–26, 2025 in Accra, Ghana.
The highly anticipated tournament will feature eight boys’ and eight girls’ teams battling for continental glory. The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Accra, was assisted by Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan and Ivorian football icon Clementine Toure.
In the boys’ category, CECAFA region champions Tanzania have been placed in Group B alongside heavyweights Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and DR Congo. Group A features hosts Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, and Algeria—setting the stage for intense showdowns.
Uganda’s girls’ team, who are the reigning CECAFA champions, have been drawn in Group B as well. They will face defending champions South Africa, DR Congo, and The Gambia. Group A features Ghana, Morocco, Benin, and Malawi.
In the buildup to the competition, six key workshops kicked off in Accra. These include the Young Referees Programme, Young Reporters Programme, Young Medical Officers Programme, a Safety & Security Workshop, CAF D License Coaching Course, and CAF Safeguarding Workshops. These initiatives are part of CAF’s broader efforts to develop football beyond the pitch.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship, backed by the Motsepe Foundation, continues to grow in stature. The inaugural edition was held in South Africa in 2023, with the second hosted in Zanzibar. The 2025 edition in Accra promises to be another landmark event in African youth football.
