Uganda Rugby Cranes (15s) Coach Robert Seguya on Wednesday named the squad to face Zimbabwe Sables in the Victoria Cup this weekend at Legends rugby grounds, Lugogo.

The Saturday game will be the second for the Nile Special-sponsored Rugby Canes after an away win at Kenya –which was also the first leg of 2019 Elgon cup that Kenya won on aggregate.

Sseguya made some changes from the side which lost to Kenya Simbas 16-5 in the Elgon cup return leg two weeks back with Saul Kivumbi, Joseph Kagimu, Brian Asaba and Ian Munyani replaced by Ivan Kabagambe, Faraj Odugo, Kelvin Balagadde and Eric Mula respectively.

Zimbabwe Sables claimed a 38-18 victory their last visit to Uganda in 2018 during the Gold Cup which gives the Brendan Dawson’s side confidence coming into the fixture.

Zimbabwe thrashed Zambia 39-10 at Harare Sports club in their opening fixture of the tournament. The Victoria Cup is played by four nations; Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kenya at a round robin format.

The squad:

Backs: Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Paul Epilo, Ivan Magomu, Pius Ogena, Eric Mula Mula, Michael Okorach, Paul Masendi, David Ssemwami, Adrian Kasito and Philip Wokorach.

Officials:

Robert Sseguya – Head coach, Brian Makalama – Assistant Coach, Robert Omuna – Team Manager, Dr. Faith Komagum – Team Doctor and Samuel Asiimwe – Team Physio.
