Uganda Sevens provisional squad named ahead of Dubai 7s & Cape Town 7s

Uganda Sevens management has confirmed a provisional squad of 18 players to prepare for the upcoming Dubai 7s and Cape Town 7s scheduled for 2-3rd December and 9-11th December respectively.

The two events are part of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series which is contested in ten cities around the world and Uganda Sevens will head to Dubai and Cape Town as an invitational side.

The summoned players are a cocktail of experienced charges and new kids on the block who recently impressed at the National Rugby Sevens Series (Nile Special 7s). They are all locally based expect Philip Wokorach who plies his trade in France.

Toyota Buffaloes’ Aaron Tukei who was named MVP of the recently concluded Nile Special 7s is part of the provisional squad and will definitely be eager to make the cut to the final squad.

Jinja Hippos who won the Nile Special 7s have three players in the team, that is; Dennis Etwau, Timothy Mugisha and Tawfik Bagalana.

Mubarak Wandera of Impis is also in the team and will seek to impress the selectors during the drills.

Perennial charges on the national side, Alex Atukunda, Ian Munyani, William Nkore, Michael Wokorach, Nobert Okeny, Desire Ayera, Aaron Ofoywroth, Adrian Kasito, Timothy Kisiga, Karim Arinaitwe are in the mix and majority of them will definitely make the cut to the final squad.

Training is currently underway and the players will seek to impress the selectors in order to be on the plane to Cape Town and Dubai.
