Veteran rally driver Umar Dauda has officially confirmed his return to competitive rallying, marking a major comeback ahead of the 2025 Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally scheduled for July 10–12.
Dauda, known for his fearless driving style and previous exploits in a Mitsubishi Evo 6, is now making headlines with an upgraded Mitsubishi Evo X. His return has generated significant buzz within Uganda’s motorsport circles, with fans and fellow competitors anticipating a high-octane performance.
Having been absent from the local rally scene for some time, Dauda’s re-entry symbolizes a new chapter in his racing career. His decision to rejoin the championship is seen as both a nostalgic and strategic move as he brings years of experience to the increasingly competitive field.
The Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally is one of the key events on the national rally calendar, organized by the Eastern Motor Club (EMC), a member of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU). This year’s edition promises intense action, especially with the return of night stages and participation from seasoned drivers.
Also making a comeback is Hassan Alwi Jr., who will be piloting a high-performance Ford Fiesta Proto. His return adds further excitement, setting up a compelling showdown between two rally veterans and their powerful machines.
Organizers expect a strong turnout of fans across Jinja and Bugerere, with early estimates predicting over 10,000 spectators. The rally is anticipated to be a spectacle of speed, skill, and mechanical mastery as the country’s top drivers face off.
