The Singleton Match Play Challenge quarterfinals match between Moses Ssebugwawo and Charles Odere against Joseph Bogere and Kenneth Kiddu played on Saturday at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course wasn’t completed after it got dark in the evening with matters still even.

After playing 18 holes, the two pairs were still tied and it was the same scenario when they played the first sudden death playoff hole. Play was halted due to the dark conditions.

According to Entebbe Club professional Dickson Lagoro, the match will proceed on Friday, 13th October and matters will be taken to holes 2 and 9.

The winner of the match on Friday will face the pair of Seruwano Walusimbi (Entebbe Club Captain) and his golfing partner Peter Magona, who beat Jimmy Adiga and Johnson Dairo 2/1 in the quarterfinals.

In the other matchups of the main event, Saidi Kirarira and Richard Mucunguzi beat the pair of Innocent Nahabwe and Robert Busingye 3/2 while Michael Odur and Brian Manyindo posted a 2/1 win against Conrad Odere and Shaban Ramathan. The winning pairs will face each other in next month’s semifinals.

In the subsidiary event, Kin Kariisa won Men’s Group A off 37 points, Bruce Aijuka won Group B with 43 points, Lin Xing took charge of Group C with 41 points while Kelvin Wakwabubi was top performer in Group D with 38 points.

In the ladies subsidiary event, Dinah Ongol won Group A off 39 points, Edith Wamalwa was atop Group B with 37 points.

Charles Kabunga emerged the best senior golfer off 34 points.

Meanwhile, the semifinals and the finale of the Singleton Match Play Challenge will take place on 18th November and 2nd December respectively.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) through the Singleton Whisky brand is the tournament lead sponsor. The partners are; Uganda Airlines, DSTV, NCBA, CFAO Motors and Afrisafe.
