A one all draw at home against Busoga United on Wednesday means that Bright Stars are still stuck in the relegation zone with the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) season now in its final bend.

Bright Stars are 14th on the 16-team table off 21 points from 23 games. They are three points away from safety. Busoga United have however moved to 11th position with 26 points.

At Kavumba recreational grounds, Bright Stars thought they would take all the three points after Joseph Janjali opened the scoring. However, his effort was cancelled by Anwar Ntege with the forward heading home from outside the area.

Janjali slotted home in the 22nd minute after capitalizing on Ibrahim Kasinde’s assist. He easily found the back of the net to the joy of the home side.

Ntege would later even matters in the 37th minute heading home a strong ball that couldn’t be dealt with by the home side’s backline bodies.

Bright Stars had chances to reinstate their lead but couldn’t slot home. Kasinde’s free kick went over the bar whilst Skipper Nelson Ssenkatuka’s failed to beat goalie Andrew Ssekandi after going one on one with him.

Both sides will seek to get maximum points next time round for Busoga too isn’t safe yet.

In the other game, Gadaffi FC held Arua Hill SC to a 1-1 stalemate at Barifa Stadium.
