UPL: Busoga pile more plight on Onduparaka, URA back to winning ways

Busoga United picked up their second StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) victory of the season when they edged Onduparaka 1-0 at Bombo Military Barracks Ground on Saturday.

Laban Tibita scored the winning goal on 69 minutes for the Eastern Region side to get out of the relegation zone.

Tibita’s Man of the Match performance earned him the Pilsner accolade for the game’s star.

The win moved Busoga two places up to 11th on six points after seven games.

For bottom Onduparaka, it just cannot stop raining.

Having started the season minus two points and goals because of punishment from last season, they remain at the basement of the log on one point from six matches.

Meanwhile, URA ended their run of two games without a win by beating Arua Hill 1-0 at Nakisunga Ground in Mukono on Saturday.

Dickson Kigongo scored the winner late in the game to hand the hosts all three points.

However, it was Abdallah Salim’s industry throughout the game that earned the URA forward the Pilsner Man of the Match accolade ahead of Kigongo.

URA ‘s victory moves the Tax Collectors up to seventh on nine points after seven matches.

This was Arua Hill’s first defeat of the season, meaning that all 15 teams in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) have now lost at least a game.

Arua Hill remain sixth on 10 points from five matches.

URA, who had not won in the last two, got their winner on 80 minutes when Derrick Ndahiro teed on Kigongo for the latter to finish the business.
