KCCA FC will be desperate to break their six-match winless run when they host struggling Mbale Heroes at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Saturday evening. The Uganda Premier League clash, kicking off at 7:00 pm, will be broadcast live on Sanyuka Prime TV.
The 13-time league champions have endured a torrid spell since their controversial victory over Wakiso Giants in December last year. During this rough patch, Abdallah Mubiru’s men have suffered three defeats and drawn three times, managing to score only one goal in those six games—a 1-1 draw with arch-rivals SC Villa.
However, Mubiru told the club website that: “We are ready for the game against Mbale Heroes FC. It is very important that we get back to winning ways as this will help in the confidence and belief of the team and other stakeholders.”
With 25 points and sitting in 7th place, a win could propel KCCA to 6th, while Mbale Heroes, who are languishing at the bottom with just 10 points, risk sinking further unless they can cause an upset.
Elsewhere, Mbarara City will host Soltilo Bright Stars at Kakyeka Stadium in a battle for survival. The Ankole Lions, currently 12th with 20 points, are not yet safe from relegation threats, making this a crucial match. Bright Stars, sitting in 15th place, are equally desperate for maximum points to boost their survival hopes.
The action continues on Sunday when SC Villa takes on Maroons FC in a televised encounter at 3:00 pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
