Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Mbale Heroes FC at Mbale Municipal Stadium on October 26, 2024, in their latest StarTimes Uganda Premier League match.
The victory marked KCCA FC’s second away win in three games this season.
KCCA FC showcased early dominance, with Abubaker Mayanja stepping in as center forward in place of the injured Derrick Nsibambi.
The visitors created multiple chances, including a 9th-minute attempt when Bright Anukani set up Mayanja, whose shot was blocked by Mbale’s Musa Malunda. Shortly afterward, Mbale’s Gideon Etou was booked for a foul on Shafik Kwikiriza.
In the 30th minute, a well-placed cross from Mayanja found Anukani, who skillfully headed the ball past Mbale’s goalkeeper Delton Oyo to secure the lead.
Despite more attempts on goal, KCCA FC couldn’t extend their advantage, closing the first half 1-0.
Mbale Heroes made efforts to level the score in the second half but found it challenging to break through KCCA FC’s defense.
The Cityzens held firm and secured the three points, propelling them to the top of the Uganda Premier League table with 14 points from six games.
KCCA FC is set to host Maroons FC next at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on October 31, 2024.
