UPL: KCCA, Vipers win as Wakiso lose at home once again

Morley Byekwaso got his tenure at KCCA FC off to a winning start as his side beat BUL FC at the Omomdi stadium in Lugogo.

After tense opening exchanges, the Kasasiros Boys took the lead through Filbert Obenchan at the stroke of halftime.

Just after the break, Charles Lwanga netted KCCA’s second before the returning Julius Poloto collected from fellow substitute Kezironi Kizito to score the third.

This was KCCA’s ninth victory of the season and it sees them return to 4th spot on 30 points, six adrift of top spot.

For BUL, they drop to 10th on 20 points from 16 games.

At Bombo Military Barracks Stadium, Vipers SC smiled to a 3-0 win away to UPDF FC.

Paul Mucurezi opened the scoring from the spot on 15 minutes before Ceaser Manzoki added a second on 28 minutes.

The Congolese striker then put the game to bed 10 minutes from time to complete his brace on the day.

Vipers are now joint top of the standings with 36 points, level with URA FC who are away to Express FC on Saturday.

UPDF on the other hand drop to 7th on 25 points.

At Wakissha, Wakiso Giants were subjected to a 4th loss of the season as they relinquished a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at home to Mbarara City FC.

The Purple Sharks took the lead inside the opening four minutes as Tom Masiko converted from the spot following a foul on Pius Kaggwa.

Five minutes before the break, Jude Ssemugabi set up Henry Kitegenyi for the equaliser

With five minutes to play, substitute Solomon Okwalinga rifled in from inside the area to hand Mbarara all three points on the day.

The loss leaves Wakiso in 11th with 17 points while Mbarara stay in 13th on 15 points.

At Kavumba, Bright Stars took care of lowly Kitara FC 3-1.

Ssamuel Ssekamate netted twice either side of Marvin Joseph’s goal while Monday Denis stuck for Kitara from a penalty.

Ssekamate opened the scoring on 17 minutes before Marvin added a second at the stroke of halftime.

Monday then halved the deficit on 63 minutes before Ssekamate scored the visitors third 16 minutes from time.

Victory elevates Bright Stars into 9th with 20 points while Kitata remain rooted to the bottom on 5 points.
