KCCA and Wakiso Giants secured vital victories on Friday, narrowing the gap on table leaders NEC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
KCCA triumphed 2-0 over Kitara FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, with goals from Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Nsibambi in the first half.
Mayanja opened the scoring in the 11th minute following a dazzling run by Shafiki Kwikiriza, while Nsibambi doubled the lead just before halftime after Kitara’s goalkeeper, Crispus Kusiima, failed to clear the ball effectively.
Meanwhile, Wakiso Giants earned a hard-fought 1-0 win against Mbale Heroes at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
Habert Asiimwe found the net in the 15th minute with a well-placed effort set up by Marvin Oshaba.
The results leave both KCCA and Wakiso Giants on seven points, just two behind NEC, but KCCA remains in second place due to a superior goal difference.
Kitara, after a bright start to the season, now sits in seventh place with three points, while Mbale Heroes lie in 10th.
The two wins put pressure on NEC as the title race heats up early in the season.
