Uganda Premier League side URA FC has appointed Jimmy Kintu Mwera as its new head coach on a two-year contract, with an option to extend, as the club begins a major restructuring of its technical department ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Tax Collectors also confirmed the appointment of Godfrey Magoba as first assistant coach on a two-year renewable contract. The pair joins from Express FC, where they worked together in the same respective roles.
Kintu arrives at URA FC with more than a decade of coaching experience spanning youth, women’s, university and senior football. A CAF A Licence holder, he is widely regarded as one of Uganda’s promising young tacticians, known for his emphasis on tactical discipline, player development and modern possession-based football.
His coaching philosophy focuses on structured build-up play, high-intensity pressing and effective transition football, while placing equal importance on developing players on and off the pitch. He is also recognised for his expertise in match preparation, performance analysis, squad development and contemporary training methodologies.
Kintu boasts an impressive record of success. He guided Uganda Christian University to the University Football League title in 2019 and the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUSU) Championship in 2022.
He also enjoyed a successful spell at St. Noa Girls FC, winning the FUFA Women Elite League title, securing promotion to the FUFA Women Super League, lifting both the FEASSA and USSSA Girls Football Championships, and leading the team to the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals in Ghana after winning the CECAFA Schools Championship.
Beyond Uganda, Kintu has gained international coaching experience with Nairobi City Stars in Kenya and later served as a Football Development Consultant at Magnet Soccer Academy in Tanzania, where he helped establish youth development structures and modern coaching programmes.
Joining him on the URA FC technical bench is Magoba, another CAF A Licence holder with extensive experience across professional football, women’s football, youth development and university sports.
Magoba has previously served as head coach of Uganda Christian University Women’s Team, She Maroons FC and Entebbe FC, while also contributing to several football development initiatives locally and internationally. His expertise in player development and technical planning is expected to strengthen the club’s coaching setup.
