Uganda sports press association (USPA) has this Thursday held prayers for their fallen comrades.

The candle lighting mass held at the Christ the King was led by Msgr Lawrence Lugolobi Semusu assisted by Charles Wasswa Kawoya as the mass server.

USPA former presidents joined the current executive for the prayers

Msgr Kasibante, who confessed his love for FC Bayern Munich, urged the scribes to spare time off their busy schedule and look for God because they pass through many risks to gather news.

USPA together with partners Standard Chartered bank will also paint the accident casualty ward at Mulago hospital this Friday as part of the activities for the 2019 USPA road safety campaign week. Patrick Kanyomozi, the USPA president urged members, through their respective media houses to emphasize safe drive on the roads especially highways.

Candle lighting moment

The sports journalists’ umbrella body will climax their annual road safety campaign this Saturday in Lugazi in partnership with Supreme floor of Mandela millers, City tyres, NCS, KCCA FC and UNRA.

At Lugazi, the sports scribes will paint a zebra crossing and deliver road safety awareness massages together with Uganda bikers association and Uganda cycling association that will provide bikers and cyclists respectively.

May their souls rest in peace

USPA started the road safety campaign after a 2001 fatal accident in Lugazi, Buikwe which claimed four of their members when their car collided head-on with a pick-up truck at Kikaula, about one kilometer away from Lugazi town along Jinja-Kampala highway.

The late trio Kenneth Matovu, 26, Simon Peter Ekarot, 27, and Leo Kabunga, 40 were from the New Vision while Francis Batte was from the Daily monitor. The quartet was returning from Jinja where they had a meeting of USPA executive members.
