The sports sector just like almost all aspects of life have been massively affected negatively by the Covid-19 disruptions that have been a major damper in our lives for over a year now.

For the Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA), the case has been the same and as they head into their 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, 10th July 2021, they too are bemoaning the negative impact of the pandemic in their operations.

“Our 2020-2021 activity calendar has not been realized and implemented. We have not had the U15 National Championship played in Tororo as planned. The budget income and sources have been halted by the covid19 pandemic. We have not had any football coaching, administration course as scheduled. This has left our stakeholders yarning,” UYFA General Secretary – Shafic Kigongo said adding that the lockdowns have a major challenge to the association.

The association will hold the AGM at the head offices of the Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) in Lungujja, Kampala the 24 UYFA National Delegates, Invited Guests and FUFA officials participate in AGM via online while other Youth Football Stakeholders to follow on Association Social media platforms.

Ahead of the AGM, UYFA has registered some achievements, including; more members involved in elections than ever before, decentralization, starting of academy Pro agenda programs and the like.

Going forward, UYFA has set some targets to attain in the post lockdown era.

“We are looking forward to orienting the new elected sub committee members, executive committee members and internal stakeholders to run the association assignments inthe best way, having the halted courses,” Kigongo added.

The newly elected chairman (Roberts Kiwanuka) is expected to announce his new executive committee, new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), working committees, working departments at this AGM.

Other key issues on the agenda will be the passing of the annual budgetary estimates, activity report and key resolutions that will govern the tranquil and smooth transition of work tasks at hand.
