Vipers part ways with league winning coach Ivan Minnaert

‎Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed the departure of head coach Ivan Minnaert following the expiration of his contract.
‎
‎The club announced on Sunday that both parties had agreed to end their working relationship, bringing to a close the Belgian coach’s one season stint at St Mary’s Stadium.
‎
‎In a statement, Vipers thanked Minnaert for his contribution and professionalism during his time at the club and wished him success in his future endeavors.
‎
Minnaert leaves having guided the Venoms to their eighth Uganda Premier League title, a feat that secured his place among the club’s successful coaches. However, despite delivering the championship, questions remained among sections of the club’s supporters over the team’s style of play throughout the campaign.
‎
The decision not to extend his stay therefore comes as little surprise, with Vipers opting to head in a different direction ahead of the new season.
‎
Minnaert joined Vipers in July 2025 from Liberian side Fassell FC, where he had just overseen a title winning campaign.
‎
He arrived in Uganda with vast experience across the African continent, having previously managed clubs in Libya, Rwanda, Kenya, Guinea, Mali and South Africa.
‎
Among the notable teams on his coaching résumé are Al Ittihad Tripoli, AFC Leopards, Rayon Sports, Djoliba AC, Mukura Victory Sports, AS Kaloum and Black Leopards.
