I&M Bank Group Head of Marketing and Communications, Mwihaki Wachira attended the September event of the I&M Bank Katogo Invitational Golf Series held on Saturday at Entebbe Club.
Wachira addressed golfers during the 19th hole experience of the Saturday event where she hailed the organisation of the I&M Bank Katogo Invitational Golf Series, dubbing the weekend outing a top notch event.
“A big up to everyone involved in the organisation of this event…this is excellent and you guys have set the bar high,” Wachira said adding that; “we are very grateful that Entebbe Club considered I&M Bank a worthy partner, you have demonstrated high level of event organisation and participation and we can only commit to partnering with you.”
“I&M Bank has had a good relationship with golf. Back at home (Kenya) we sponsor a lot of events and we have taken golf to the next level through various events we partner with,” Wachira noted adding that things will continue getting better and better between them and the Katogo Invitational Golf Series.
Wachira was in the company of Sam Ntulume, the Acting Managing Director of I&M Bank Uganda, Annette Nakiyaga, the head of marketing and corporate communications I&M Bank Uganda, H.E Maj Gen (Rtd) George Owino, the High Commissioner of Kenya in Uganda among others.
Meanwhile, Henry Ssali headlined the September event of the series posting a nett score of 61, which was the best score of the day. Ssali who was in Men’s Group C shot 49 on the front nine and an improved 44 on the back nine (total of 93) but his handicap of 32 meant that the medal format used to determine the final score favoured him. He claimed a RwandAir ticket and a trophy.
In Men’s Group B, Herbert Olowo beat Morgan Otile on count back (63) to emerge overall while in Men’s Group A Alexander Matsiko emerged winner with 65 nett. Both winners were awarded with RwandAir tickets and trophies.
In the ladies category, Diana Nabukenya posted 66 nett to emerge winner and claim a RwandAir ticket and a trophy. Anne Njeri who finished second with 67 nett won a dinner for two at Kampala Serena and a trophy. Patricia Nakasi finished third with 68 nett (c/b) and she won a RwandAir goodie bag.
For the longest drive prize, Faith Namara and Maxi Byenkya were the winners (hole 1 and 7 respectively) while Kin Kariisa and Peter Magona were the men’s winners (hole 1).
Hannington Mpiima who is the Katogo Golf Captain was happy with the good turn up after over 100 golfers graced the course. He added that the series will soon go regional, an idea that is backed by H.E Maj Gen (Rtd) George Owino.
The final leg (grand finale) of the series will happen on 9th December 2023.
