Wakiso put five past MYDA after Mbabazi sacking

Hassan Wasswa clebrates his goal against MYDA

StarTimes Uganda premier league side Wakiso Giants started life without Livingstone Mbabazi on a winning note following their 5-0 home thumping of MYDA at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso on Tuesday.

Defender Hassan Wasswa Dazo netted a brace in the 30 and 74th minute while Lawrence Bukenya, Amos Muwonge and Geoffrey Sserunkuma added one each in the 32nd, 68th and 80th minute respectively as the hosts advanced to the Round of 16.

Mbabazi

Mbabazi was fired on Monday following a misunderstanding with the team owner Musa Atagenda over technical issues on top of unpleasant results. Under Mbabazi, the Purple Sharks managed only one win, drew twice and lost thrice in the six second round league fixtures. They also eliminated Bugoigo Leopards at the round of 64 courtesy of a Viane Sekajugo brace.

The Uganda Cranes second assistant coach replaced Kefa Kisala in November last year on a two-year deal from Onduparaka. Steven Bengo is the interim coach but he is limited by mandatory CAF License B coaching license to manage a premier league side.
