2018/19 Nile Special Rugby Premiership

Saturday Fixtures

4: 30PM – Stanbic Black Pirates vs Toyota Buffaloes @Kings Park

4: 30PM – Hima Cement Heathens vs MRI Rams @Kyadondo

4: 30PM – Duspay Warriors vs Betway Kobs @Legends

4: 30PM – Plascon Mongers vs Jinja Hippos @House of Payne

League debutants Walukuba Barbarians will be relegated to the lower tier if they fail to get maximum points this weekend away against Rimula Rhinos. It is Walukuba’s last moment to get an absolution since this is the second last weekend outing of the 2018/19 Nile Special Rugby Premiership. Walukuba has won just one game (against Hippos) way back in the first round and up to now their fans have been longing for relief but it would never come. They are at the rock bottom of the 10-team table with just six points, a deficit of six behind ninth placed MRI Rams. Walukuba Coach Leonard Rwitare has attributed their horror season to financial hiccups. “Money is our biggest problem. We find it hard to run club affairs,” Rwitare noted. Walukuba snubbed the Sevens Series hoping to maintain steam for the 15s duel but that has proved to be a false move. They have instead conceded the most tries in the league.

So, the mathematics is now very tricky for Walukuba. They must win all their remaining two games as MRI Rams stumble or face relegation.

Their last game is at home against Mongers; a fixture they are likely to wave good bye to the top tier.

On the top of the table, Hima Cement Heathens could put one hand on the title or even claim the crown this weekend as they seek to pile much plight on Rams.

Their nemesis Betway Kobs who play Dusupay Warriors are behind them with three points (71 vs 68).

If Warriors beat Kobs with or without a bonus point (which is very possible) and Heathens demolish Rams, then the Kyadondo custodians will claim the title. But the biggest possibility is that the title could be won during the season finale when Heathens host Warriors whilst Betway Kobs face Rimula Rhinos.
