It was on Sunday 7th, December 2014, Uganda Sand Cranes played her first ever International beach soccer match at Bamboo Sand beach in Bububu against Zanzibar.

Zanzibar Versus Uganda is therefore the first ever International beach soccer fixture for the Sand Cranes.

It was a historical moment not only for the Boys but for the entire country. It marked the birth of the national beach soccer team for Uganda and the rest now is history.

The first tactician of the sand cranes was Coach Haruna Kebba Helon and his assistant was Coach Seguya Peter. They handled their first assignment to play the exciting Zanzibar sand heroes at Bububu beach resort at the shores of Indian ocean.

The journey to Zanzibar was both exciting and challenging as the Uganda delegation had to endure the road trip about 2060 Kilometers from Kampala to Dar es Salaam and back with FUFA bus driven by Hajji Kabali. From Dar es Salaam port the delegation boarded the Azam ship to stone city, Zanzibar on Indian ocean.
