The 13th Kampala International Sports film Festival is scheduled for September 11-12 at Tal Cottages, Rubaga. Dean Kibirige, the Federation International Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) Uganda President confirmed that the two-day event is expected to have over 50 (free) entries that will battle for honors in six categories including; Sports documentary, Olympic Games, TV sports show, Sports movies, Sport and society and Sports adverts.

“We have six categories to compete in and everyone if free to submit entrance to any or all the categories with and there is no limited entrance. We are trying to encourage creativity in our sports (visual) industry. The winners in Kampala will have their entries compete at the International FICTS competition in Milan later in the year,” he noted.

The 2019 Kampala International sports film festival is run by FICTS-Uganda, a non profit organization started by legendary TV sports journalist Andrew Patrick Luwandagga (RIP) twelve years ago.

“We initiated the APL mentorship Award for most outstanding person or institution that has contributed greatly to the development of sport locally and internationally in memory of Andrew Patrick Luwandagga (APL),” noted Kibirige during this year’s edition launch at Tal Cottages last week.

With the festival run in the template of Olympism, cash prizes are limited but Tal Cottages and Minister of State for Works Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala are some of the sponsors of the innovative competition.
