The recently elected Executive Committee of the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) have served off their term by engaging members of the press and various stake holders in a media symposium.

The Symposium was held on Saturday in Lugogo and it aimed at tackling key aspects of the game so as to help all those involved in volleyball elevate it using their capacities and roles.

Sadik Nasiwu who bounced back as local volleyball boss during the polls held two weeks ago noted that a Symposium is one of the ways UVF seeks to rejuvenate the game as the federation seeks to achieve new targets moulded around team work and activate engagement of various stake holders.

“We (new UVF Executive Committee) are dedicated to develop the game but this will take support of all the stake holders. You all need to leave your comfort zones for the love of the game,” Nasiwu noted at the Symposium after narrating the history of volleyball, both here in Uganda and globally.

“Volleyball needs patronage, love and passion that’s why it was initially played for leisure though it was characterized with few tournaments and championships, before  clubs were privatized in the early 90s,” Nasiwu added.

Nasiwu further noted that albeit the current COVID-19 situation that has left volleyball and some other sports disciplines at a halt for about a year now, his team is working hard to ensure that competitive play is reinstated.

The much engaging Symposium was also attended by FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein who took clubs and UVF itself through a session on Public Relations, Communications and Media.

Among other facilitators included celebrated international sports journalist – Usher Komugisha and FIVB International referee – Innocent Komakech who took participants through respective sessions.
