Soroti Cricket Academy is celebrating its 10th anniversary, a milestone that highlights its commitment to empowering Uganda’s youth through cricket, education, and community development.
Founded in 2014, the Academy has positively impacted over 1,800 young beneficiaries, providing them with a platform to develop their talents and valuable life skills.
Speaking at the press conference to announce the 10-year celebrations, Felix Musana, Chairman of Soroti Cricket Academy, noted, “We’ve strived to create empowered youth with the ability to discover and fulfill their potential.”
The Academy has evolved from its humble beginnings with four children to become a thriving organization, currently partnered with 18 schools, three cricket grounds, and three professional clubs.
As part of its celebrations, the Academy has planned two special events. A 10th Anniversary Dinner is set for December 20, where key supporters, beneficiaries, and partners will be honored. Following that, a Cricket Carnival on December 21 will feature a range of activities, including cricket games, live music, and entertainment aimed at engaging both established cricket enthusiasts and newcomers to the sport.
Over the past decade, the Academy has also worked to promote gender equality and expand access to resources for young cricketers, with 25 alumni having represented Uganda’s national cricket team.
Looking forward, Musana called for further support to amplify the Academy’s impact, urging partners to join in efforts to provide financial and intellectual resources.
Founded with the mission to foster youth development and social engagement, the Soroti Cricket Academy remains dedicated to using cricket as a vehicle for social change in Uganda, empowering both boys and girls to reach their potential on and off the field.
