Dr. Ehab Amin Esawy, Africa Gymnastics Union President has today, 14th December 2023 visited the participants of the on-going capacity building training at Kibuli SS.
Dr. Ehab was accompanied by Harriet Ayaa, the President Gymnastics Association of Uganda together with other members of the GAU secretariat staff. This is par of efforts to spread awareness of upcoming training to participants mainly coaches that will be rolled out in the coming year 2024.
“We have realized that people know very little about the sport therefore our aim is to make the sport very well known in Uganda and we are advocating for mass participation because Gymnastics is a mother of all sports, gymnastics is a fundamental sport which every child needs to be agile and coordinated”.
“If we tap into the numbers of USSSA we will be able to reach out to every primary and secondary student in the country. We shall partner with them to make sure that the gospel of gymnastics is spread throughout the whole country”.Aya concluded.
The major reason for Dr. Ehab’s visit to Uganda is to prepare for the meeting of the Executive members of the International Gymnastics Federation in February 2024.
“As the African Gymnastics Union,we promise to give interested participants both educational support, facilities and equipment (to the association)”.
In his chat with media students he encouraged them to seek more knowledge on the sport so as to as pick interest in covering it effectively.
