Airtel-Uganda Managing Director VG Somasekhar led a team of top staff to join the Cranes fans and the media to cheer their team during an Airtel-organised Afcon watch party on Saturday at Sevens sports lounge in Industrial Area.
This was during the Cranes 2-0 win over Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Saturday. Despite not being very much active in sports, Somasekhar was the only one with right score prediction of the game’s final result.
“Thank you for coming to support the Uganda Cranes as they take on DR Congo, my prediction is Uganda Cranes 2:0 DR Congo,” he predicted in his remarks at half time.
Led by the MD and marketing manager Remmie Kisakye, top Airtel-Uganda staff, media and celebrities in Cranes red colors flocked the classy spot to cheer the team as the company also gave out Cranes goodies including replica jerseys to fans that were conversant with the Cranes history.
The team’s victory celebrations were capped with drinks, eats and performance from top artistes. Uganda Cranes Saturday win over DRC ended the country’s 41-year wait for a win at AFCON finals since 1978 and Airtel-Uganda are proud to be bankrolling the team.
