Ahead of the final round of the ladies event of the 2022 Tusker Malt Uganda Golf Open (Uganda Ladies Open) scheduled for this Saturday at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kigo, Martha Babirye is just a shot ahead of second placed Peace Kabasweka.

Uganda Golf Club’s Babirye, handicap 1 has an overall 11 over par 155 against Toro Club’s Kabaswe (handicap 2) who has 12 over par 156 after two rounds.

Meron Kyomugisha is a distant third with 20 over par 164 hence the championship battle is undoubtedly between the top two ladies.

Babirye who led by four strokes over Kabasweka in Thursday’s opening round had a bit bad round in day two where she shot 8 over par 80 whilst Kabasweka posted 5 over par 77 making the latter to bridge the gap to just one shot as she seeks to get off the mark.

Babirye, two time champion who won the Uganda Ladies Golf Open title in 2019 and 2020, albeit struggling on day two birdied in par-4 hole 14 and par-4 hole 16.

Kabasweka on the other hand didn’t sink in a birdie but had an improved round overall from her Thursday round where she shot 7 over par 79.
