Baby Cricket Cranes to resume preps for World Cup Qualifiers

The Uganda U-19 Boys national Cricket team, Baby Cricket Cranes will resume training for the 2022 U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in the West Indies.

The provisional team had started preparations under the guidance of Head Coach Ivan Thawithemwira and his assistant Robinson Turinawe before sports was halted during the recent 42-day nationwide lockdown.

26 players have been summoned for the camp and were all part of the training that happened before sports activities were halted.

The squad will be cut down to 18 players after a month of training. The qualifiers will be held from September 28th to 7th October in Kigali, Rwanda. Uganda will be battling for a single World Cup slot against Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria and Namibia.

The players have been selected from all over the country and the team will have a atleast a month of training before they head out to Kigali. All the players will under go mandatory Covid-19 tests before they resume training on Wednesday.

Akena Bosco, Anas Mirza, Asaba Brian, Asiimwe Muhammad Abdallah, Ategeka Isaac Sanyu, Baguma Joseph, Fahad Mutagana, Kakuru Cyrus, Kidega Christopher, Kush Vekaria, Lutaaya Ronald, Miyaji Juma, Munir Ismail, Murungi Pascal, Musa Majid Rama, Musinguzi Mathew, Nsubuga Akram, Nuwagaba Edwin, Ochaya Jaffer, Oketcho Simon, Oloka Pius, Omara Ronald, Opio Ronald, Puwata Ronald, Sowobi Yunus and Waiswa Anderson.
