The much-anticipated return of the Muwanguzi Memorial Beach Soccer Tournament marks a triumphant revival after a four-year hiatus.
Following confirmation in a recent stakeholders meeting, the fourth edition is set to unfold on Sunday, April 14th, and Sunday, May 12th, 2024, at the FUFA Technical Centre Beach Soccer Arena in Njeru.
Having last graced the sands in 2019, this annual event pays homage to its namesake, the late Samson Muwanguzi, a revered figure and pioneer of beach soccer in Uganda. Open to teams of all levels, the tournament holds a special place as the premier beach soccer cup competition in the nation.
Since its inception in 2017, the tournament has witnessed thrilling showdowns, with St. Lawrence University emerging as the dominant force, clinching two titles in 2018 and 2019. Stormers BSC made history as the inaugural champions in 2017, setting the stage for what has become a cherished tradition in Ugandan beach soccer.
