Guinness Matchday watch parties still on despite Trophy Tour Cancellation, EPL live viewing tickets up for grabs
Guiness Matchday was set for an epic return following two weeks without Premier League action as the Trophy was supposed to be in Uganda this weekend. However, Guinness announced that the much-anticipated tour had been cancelled.
“We worked hard to bring the Trophy Tour to Uganda between the 11th and 13th October 2026. However, despite our efforts, we have not been able to deliver it as planned, and it will unfortunately not be taking place as scheduled,” a statement from the organisers, Uganda Breweries Limited and the Guinness Brand Team, released on Saturday, October 10, read.
“We know how much this meant to fans, our partners and our stakeholders across Uganda. We apologise for this unfortunate situation,” the release read.
That notwithstanding, with knowledge of Ugandans love for the beautiful game, Guinness stated that all watch parties will go on as scheduled.
“Our watch parties will go ahead as communicated, and we will be in touch with our partners directly. We remain committed to football fans in Uganda.”
On Sunday, October 11, all roads lead UICT Grounds in Nakawa for a live screening of the Manchester City vs Liverpool clash, complemented by giant screens, live music and performances from local artists.
Local music sensations Fik Fameica and Lil Pazo will headline the entertainment lineup alongside other acts, blending football with Uganda’s vibrant music scene.
Adding to the excitement, Guinness is going extra as several EPL VIP live-viewing ticket prizes are up for grabs, with each winner bringing a plus-one.
The festivities continue on Monday, October 12, at The Villa in Bukoto, where Coventry City take on Newcastle United in the featured fixture. The evening will offer another opportunity to enjoy live football alongside good company and discounted Guinness bottle offers.
The experiences reflect Guinness’ strong football association in Uganda through Guinness Matchday and Guinness Matchday on Tour, which bring fans together to enjoy the Premier League’s biggest fixtures.
Through the Lovely Day for a Guinness campaign, with We Are Extra defining its football expression, the brand continues to create memorable moments that bring fans closer to the game and each other.
