Mbale Heroes FC has appointed Baker Mbowa as their new head coach, signaling a fresh start for the club as they aim to improve their performance in the second round of the Uganda Premier League.
The former Express, Proline, and Soltilo Bright Stars tactician takes over from Asaph Mwebaze, who was officially dismissed this week due to allegations of indiscipline. Mwebaze had been serving a 28-day suspension at the time of his termination. During his absence, interim coach Mubarak Wamboya managed two games, both of which ended in 1-0 defeats to Maroons and NEC.
Mbowa’s first challenge lies in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where he will lead the team against Simba FC in the Round of 64 in Gayaza.
Afterward, his focus will shift to revitalizing Mbale Heroes’ league campaign. Currently languishing at the bottom of the table with nine points, the club is desperate for a turnaround to avoid relegation.
This marks the third managerial change for Mbale Heroes this season. The club began the campaign under Richard Malinga, before Mwebaze’s brief tenure. Fans will be hoping Mbowa’s experience and leadership can stabilize the team and drive them to safety.
