The cricket scene in Uganda is set for a major boost as the highly anticipated Batball MAXX 2025 gears up for its grand debut from March 14 to 23, 2025, at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

This groundbreaking franchise cricket tournament, organized by Batball Uganda Limited in partnership with the Uganda Cricket Association, will feature four powerhouse teams in its inaugural edition.

Batball MAXX is the pinnacle of the Batball program, which progresses from Batball Open to Batball X and now to this premier competition.

The tournament will showcase top-tier talent, with four franchise teams—Gold, Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire—comprising Uganda’s national team players, local league stars, and international cricketers.

A global stage for Ugandan cricket

The tournament will follow a double round-robin format, leading to two knockout matches and an exciting grand final. With live streaming on Fancode, one of India’s biggest digital sports platforms, Batball MAXX 2025 will provide Ugandan players with a unique opportunity to showcase their skills to a global audience.

CEO of Batball Uganda Limited emphasized the tournament’s importance, stating:

“Ugandan talent has started knocking on big doors, as evidenced by recent T20 World Cup and U19 World Cup appearances. Batball MAXX provides another platform for our youth to showcase their skills to a potential audience of 100 million. We believe this initiative will inspire more kids to pick up a bat and ball.”

Major sponsors and supporters

The first edition of Batball MAXX has already attracted top-tier sponsors, including Dafabet and Plascon Uganda as the official presenting partner. Other sponsors include Minhas Motors, Roke Telkom, the Indian Association of Uganda, Stanbic Bank Uganda, and Uganda Airlines.

Uganda Cricket Association Honorary Secretary, Musali Denis, expressed excitement about the tournament, stating:

“As we start our local season, this competition will bring excitement as our best local talent competes alongside international players. Batball has shown its commitment to cricket development in Uganda, and we hope to continue growing together.”

A free entry spectacle for fans

Batball MAXX 2025 is set to become an annual event, offering local and international players a platform to compete and gain exposure.

Entry to the event will be free, with food and beverages available at the venue to enhance the fan experience.
