After a successful first regional tournament that happened in Soroti City last weekend where four teams competed in a number of nine games, the Batball Open heads to Jinja City this weekend and action will be at Jinja SS Cricket Oval.
The same format of play will be replicated in Jinja this weekend but with different players and teams as sides from the Nile Region take it to the oval.
All the nine games to be played will be broadcasted live on Batball.tv to the whole world amidst local crowds at Jinja SS Cricket Oval by young cricketing talent under the age of 19.
Five games will be played on the first day (Saturday 17th December 2022) and four games shall follow on the second day (including the final) with all games being played in a T10 format.
Simple, fun and a game for everyone is what Batball brings to the young talents in the region with an aim of creating pathways for these young talents from grassroot level to nurture them for a big stage who could go on to be the next big stars of Uganda.
Just like in the first Batball Open tournament that happened in Soroti City where the tournament was used to create awareness against Gender based Violence that is slowly eating up the region, prevention of early teenage pregnancies in Busoga Region shall be the message being preached off the field through Batball Open Nile edition.
At the end of the tournament, 16 best players shall be selected to represent Nile region in the next challenge called Batball X that shall be played by other best 16 players from the respective regions next year.
The selected players will have a chance to game up themselves in terms of nutrition, fitness so that they can put up a good show in Batball X
Data collection from the players will be done and this will help to track a certain player in terms of talent identification.
