Despite pressure to achieve automatic qualification to the StarTimes Uganda premier league next season, Proline head coach Shafik Bisaso is eager to play in this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup final due mid next month at Masaka recreational grounds. Proline, who visit fellow Big League side Kyetume this Tuesday, has ejected premier league clubs Onduparaka and Vipers SC on their way to the semi finals, and look determined to see off Kyetume to reach the final. “I want to play Express FC (who drew 1-1 with Bright Stars on Sunday in another semi final, first leg) at the final. Yes, promotion is our priority but we also think we can lift the Uganda Cup for the first time. We feel it is the right opportunity for us to make a statement in the competition,” noted Bisaso, who has never won the title either as a player or manager. “I am not looking at the history. History is written and records are broken. All we need to is to be focused and get good results from the first leg before we seal it at our home from where we have beaten giants at the previous stages,” added Bisaso. Proline lead Rwenzori group with 38 points after 18 games, one point above second placed Kansasi Plascon whom they host on Thursday in the likely promotion decider of the group. Kyetume meanwhile are second in Elgon group with 32 points, 5 below leaders Wakiso Giants who only have to beat Entebbe FC on Thursday at home to seal automatic qualification to the top tier. The Jackson Mayanja Kyetume ejected Wakiso Giants to storm semi finals. Both teams are at the semi finals for the first time in the competition’s history. The Uganda Cup winner represents the country in the CAF Confederations Cup the subsequent season.
