Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series:

Game 1: Uganda W v UAE W

UAE W 120/6

Uganda 70 all out

Fresh from winning the second edition of the Victoria Series at home over the weekend, Uganda women’s national cricket team, Victoria Pearls had a false start to Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series after they lost their opener against UAE women’s side on Tuesday in Windhoek.

UAE won the match by 50 runs after posting 120/6 against Uganda’s 70/all out. Victoria Pearls won the toss and elected to bowl but struggled to field precisely allowing UAE to pick many runs.

Just last week, Uganda beat UAE in the Victoria Series at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala and a few days later, the Arabian nation has delivered their revenge in a neutral ground.

Theertha Satish led the way for UAE managing 39 runs that comprised of 6 fours. She was however runout by Stephanie Nampiina and Janet Mbabazi.

Kavisha Kumari followed with 30 runs that comprised of 3 fours before she was caught by Consy Aweko after Janet Mbabazi’s delivery.

For Uganda’s innings, former skipper Kevin Awino led the way with 21 runs off 32 balls, a score that comprised of 2 fours. She was however runout by Kavisha Kumari and Theertha Satish.

Proscovia Alako followed with 14 runs that comprised of 1 six. However, her time on the crease was very short for she was runout by Kavisha Kumari and Theertha Satish after just 12 balls.

Victoria Pearls will seek to fully recover when they take a rest on Wednesday before taking on Hong Kong on Thursday. Uganda has two games on Saturday, that is against UAE once again in the morning and against hosts Namibia later in the afternoon.
