When the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda premier league second round starts early next year, Busoga United will be seeking improvement on their first round position and general performance.

The Eastern side resumed training on Tuesday at their Mighty Arena grounds at Jinja SS and had coach Abel Bogere Kikomeko is confident that better resuls will come along in the second round.

“We have started preparations earlier from the earlier planned resumption on January because the league will return early next year. We expect a tough second round as usually teams fight for the title while others battle for survival,” noted Bogere, who was in charge of the Bukedi province team that lost to Acholi in the final of the 2019 FUFA Drum tournament at the Akii Bua stadium, Lira.

Bogere also believes that his charges can put up splendid performance in this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.

“We have not been doing well but this time we want to get as far as the semi-finals or the final if possible,” he said.

Busoga United that were ejected out of Stanbic Uganda Cup by Onduparaka at the round of 32 last season sit 10th on this season’s premier league table with 18 points from 15 games played.  They boast of 5 wins, three draws and 7 losses, scoring 17 and conceding 16 in the process. The side collected and scored more goals (10) away from home with Boban Zirintusa as the club lead scorer with 5 goals.
