Uganda Cranes co-coach Morley Byekwaso has officially unveiled the final 25-man squad set to represent the nation in the upcoming TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, scheduled to kick off on August 4th.

KCCA FC playmaker Allan Okello has been handed the captain’s armband, tasked with leading the Cranes throughout the tournament. He will be supported by vice-captains Joel Mutakubwa and Rogers Ochaki Torach, both of whom bring leadership and CHAN experience to the squad.

The final squad is made up of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards, carefully selected from Uganda’s domestic clubs.

Uganda, appearing in the CHAN tournament for the seventh time, will compete in Group C alongside Niger, Guinea, Algeria, and South Africa. As one of the three co-hosts for this year’s edition—alongside Kenya and Tanzania—Uganda earned automatic qualification but still took part in the qualifiers. In a preparatory campaign, the Cranes defeated Burundi 2-0 on aggregate, providing valuable match fitness and tactical fine-tuning ahead of the group stage.

The Cranes will launch their CHAN 2024 campaign with a high-stakes fixture against Algeria on August 4th.
