CAF D Women Football Coaching Course concludes

The first-ever CAF D Women Football Grass root Course in Uganda concluded on Friday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru after commencing on Tuesday.

The course is a CAF project that aimed at producing Women Football coaches that will handle Girls during the CAF U15 School Girls (7 aside) football tournament which will comprise of eight (8) selected Schools in 16 different countries.

The tournament will be held from 20th February in each of the 16 nations with eight Teams (Schools) involved. In Uganda, FUFA selected Uganda Martyrs High school-Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim SS, Rines SS, Town View SS-Bugiri, Wakiso Hills, Taggy HS, Jinja SS, and Olila High school from Soroti.

Prior to the tournament, CAF moved to facilitate two (2) coaches from each school that will train and implement skills to the U15 girls from the selected schools. The tournament is a pilot project for only 16 Nations in Africa including; Ghana, Seychelles, Tanzania, Cameroon, Gambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Burundi among others.

“Two participants were picked from each of the 8 selected schools. Their task is to coach U15 Girls that will take part in the competition that will run at the end of February. This is just the beginning of your coaching career. You should be focused and committed to achieve the best and become great women coaching coaches in the future. CAF and FUFA are providing opportunities to Women football in such projects and you should embrace these opportunities for a better future in football,” noted FUFA Football Development Director Ali Mwebe.

CAF Women Football Instructor Magida Nantanda was in charge of providing skills and facilitating the participants taking part in the workshop. “It the first CAF D course in Uganda for Women. It’s an opportunity to develop grassroots football. What we facilitate to these participants will in the feature produce quality players in Women football. I thank CAF and FUFA for the project,” revealed Nantanda.

Participants: Nalubega Diana (Jinja SS) Nandera Evelyn (Jinja SS), Nantaba Alice (Rines), Nakalule Florence (Rines), Nabwire Ruth (Town View SS), Kisakye Juliet (Town View SS), Kalembe Aminah (Wakiso Hills), Arudo Anna Grace (Olila HS), Abago Florance (Olila HS), Adeke Juliet (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nandugwa Madinah (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nakubulwa Betty (Uganda Martyrs HS Lubaga), Ayerango Freda (Uganda Martyrs HS Lubaga), Nakuya Sarah (Taggy HS) and Nabakooza Lydia (Taggy HS)
