As a support for Kenya Women National team (Malkia Strikers) who represent Africa in the coming Tokyo Olympic Games, the Africa Volleyball governing body, CAVB (Confederation of African Volleyball) have helped them with 4 Brazilian coaches to help the preparations for the Olympics.
CAVB President Mrs Bouchra Hajij said this week that one of the major projects in the CAVB new strategy is to support all teams which represent Africa internationally.
“We are now helping Kenya who represent the African women at the Olympics and we will do the same for Tunisia whose Men’s team will represent Africa also in Tokyo,”
Kenya Volleyball federation President Waithaka Kioni alongside Malkia Strikers Coach Paul Bitok welcomed four Brazilian coaches in the country
The four coaches will stay for 10 days to scout the Kenya Women’s National team, and then head back to Brazil to wait for the squad to arrive for a 6-weeks high performance training bubble camp
The Malkia Strikers have been camping in Kasarani and Kenyatta University since last month, to get ready for the summer Tokyo Olympics
All expenses for the 6-weeks training in Brazil have been met by the FIVB and the team is set to benefit from the expertise and experience of the 4 top coaches from a country that constantly produces world class players, both men and women each year.
The African representatives will head after that to Kurume City, Japan for 10-day camp and will play two friendlies with local clubs ahead of the Olympic games start.
